The exchange between the members of CSB Nepal and UBINIG, Bangladesh was organized to enrich the knowledge base of the members on conservation and use of local crop diversity.

The CSB Nepal participants learned from the visit to Bangladesh for managing local seed at two levels i.e. at the Community Seed Hut (CSH) and Community Seed Wealth Centers (CSWC). In this case, CSWC is a backup of the seed conserved and promoted by the CSH but still in the hands of the community.

Learning from the visit, CSB Nepal conducted a discussion with its members to set up some kind of backup system in Nepal if not exactly as practiced in Bangladesh.

Marketing of local variety-based organic food produced by the community seed bank members was another lesson learned by the team. So, CSB Nepal has a plan to set up a similar shop not only for the self-sustaining of the platform but also for increasing the income of the farmers who are contributing to conserving valuable local genetic resources.
