The CSB Nepal has developed and hosted an Android App ‘Hamro Biu‘ literally ‘Our Seed‘ in the local language. The App can be downloaded from the ‘Google Play Store’.

The Seed App has a list of all member community seedbanks affiliated to CSB Nepal; a list of crops and local crop diversity conserved by member community seed banks and a short description of the variety with a photo.

The main purpose of the app is to disseminate knowledge and information about the community seed banks and their conservation initiatives but also to provide access to seed through bilateral communication between community seed banks and recipients.

As of the end of February 2020, the App uploaded photos and information of 704 local varieties from 12 community seeds ranging from 24 to 129 varieties per community seed bank.

The App is a repository of information about community seed banks and the local crops and varieties conserved by the CSB Nepal member community seed banks.

The App has provided easy access to information to farmers, custodians, and community seed banks interested in agricultural biodiversity having access to the internet and the mobile set with the Android system.

Interested farmers, gardeners, custodians, and community seed banks can easily request seeds and planting materials using the App.
